I think he did change the world a little bit. He's gone but his blues and blindingly fast fingers can still be heard.

I haven't thought about TYA and Alvin Lee for years. He made a big impression on me at one point in my life. 1968 I was just off a plane in San Francisco and moving in with some friends. First night in SF we went to the Fillmore and saw Ten Years After and a couple of other bands. I think Jethro Tull was one of the others. Anyway, I was right up front watching him shred that guitar and I'll never forget that experience. 3 bands for $3.50 and a $10 big bag of weed. Those were the days

Festival seating (or no seating at all) is a thing of the past, but boy howdy was it fun back then. I blame The Eagles for the skyrocketing in ticket prices.

I don't think, at my age, I would do very well sitting on the floor or standing for several hours but when I was young it was no problem at all. I must've been to 50 concerts at the Fillmore and Winterland and paid less for them alltogether than I would have to pay for one good seat to see The Eagles, or any other top-name band these days. As long as people will pay that kind of stupid money there will be bands that demand it. Meanwhile, there are tons of truly talented bands out there that have to live in their van and play one-night stands continually in order to eat and still play music. Such is the world in which we live.
