Random noise?

Hi all,

Took this photo this evening. 30 sec @ F11 Iso 200. One side seems to be blurred and more noisy??

Any tips, ideas?

Noise is very common in areas of under-exposure. Did you make any adjustments to that area?

looks underexposed. but beyond that the focus was missed and/or the tripod isn't sturdy.

With a 30 second exposure wind can cause some loss of sharpness if your tripod is affected by the wind.

Focus was in check. My manfrotto tripod weights a lot and couldn't see why only one side was affected. According to my camera meter the exposure was correct. If i were to stop it down a bit more to like F18 and do 15 seconds or less would i get less noise? I assume long exposures in darker environments cause noise?

Make sure you turn off auto focus on your lens (manually focus or pre-focus it) when you do long exposure. Also, turn off the continuous auto-focus mode on your camera if you are on it. I have found out that even you have a heavy tripod, strong wind still can cause camera shake = blurry pix. Your pix is underexposed like others mentioned which caused noise... It looks like you might need to go to Bulb exposure setting (I think Canon uses the same terminology) and expose this more than 30 seconds. You might need an extra stop of light. It gets tricky on sunset even though your camera gives you the exposure of 30 secs but as the sun is setting... 30 secs later the scene gets darker therefore you are required to expose it longer.
