When our friends hold parties on holidays that feature a lot of neighboorhood fireworks, guests are encouraged to bring their dogs so the dogs can be calmed down instead of left to fend for themselves at home alone.

"Sadie" - per her owner the name is a portmanteau, half-Satan, half-cutie. Landfill feral turned house doggo.

"Chance" - seems to have been named for being the runt of the litter, he's about half-weight for what's typical for his breed.

dozer.webp
"Dozer" - another Landfill feral/rescue, literally jumped up into the cab of a Cat D7 when it was sitting there and wouldn't leave until adopted.

Taken on an M100 with 22mm lens, camera left on fully auto everything mode, just for my own entertainment.

Cool dogs, we had a golden that was scared to death of fireworks

It generally has worked out. Many years ago the owner of Sadie and Dozer had some ex-racing Greyhounds though, and if they got sufficently worked-up they'd go racing around the house. Scared the poor previous previous husky half to death and caused more than a bit of mayhem with the stuff inside of the house.

When my best 4-legged friend was alive, I simply hated the 4th of July here. He would shake uncontrollably and I felt terribly for him.
Fireworks used to be prohibited here (Arizona) but laws were changed around a decade ago. Before the law changes, only a scant few fireworks were smuggled in and set off, and sometimes the police would actually respond to illegal use.

Unfortunately with the changes in the law, police don't respond even to egregious offenders, so we've had a fair number of amateurs setting off nearly professional-level mortars, which really scares the dogs, especially when they go off low over neighborhoods.

I suppose the one benefit is less morons shooting off firearms into the air, wilfully blind to bullets having to come back down again somewhere.
