What's new

rate this picture and tell me the mistakes..

I don't really see the composition and the picture isn't saying anything to me emotionally. What were you trying to capture with this picture? Maybe if I understand what your focus is, I could give some suggestions on it. If you just thought it was a nice scene, what about it spoke to you?

It looks like you stepped out on your front step and took a test picture with your camera. Not really sure what you were trying to take a picture of. There are telephone poll with lines and electrical boxes, a blurry car the sky is blown and the picture in general is over exposed. I would scrap it if I were you. Sorry but I would rate it a 0.

What about something like this instead...

yes...something like that..! how do i do that?

Get out of town a bit for one thing, or at least to one of the parks in town. If trees are to be the main focus of the image you are trying to capture, then compose the shot so you don't have all the other distracting "stuff" in the frame when you take the photo. I see the camera you are using is a little BenQ point and shoot -- don't zoom too far in and go beyond the optical zoom and use digital zoom. One of the fastest ways to muck-up what might otherwise be a decent capture is by using the digital zoom feature on any point and shoot.

ahh..i guess so...my digital zoom was off...oh god im loving this forum..this is so helpful and thank you Gordan.:goodvibe:

Isolating and abstracting are two techniques which allow you to focus our attention. In your mind, you're used these two techniques to see what you want to show, but the camera has the habit of recording everything, including the stuff you've suppressed in your mind's eye. So... you have the idea and vision, and now you need to find a scene that conveys that vision without the messy background detail that makes us wonder what it was that you found interesting. Often times, you will need to isolate a specific element so that we KNOW what we're supposed to be looking at, and surround it with enough visual clues that we can figure out on our own what it was that you saw...
