hi, newbie here, iam getting ready to buy a wide or normal low f/ stop lens and i keep incountering the word "REPRODUCTIOn RATIO", can anyone explain, and give advise to which lens i should buy.

use for gen purpose, portrait maybe landscape. macro maybe.

I believe you are looking at the reproduction ratio listed on many (if not all lenses). For instance, a true macro lens has a reproduction ratio of 1:1 or better. so if you had a 1:1 reproduction ratio lens and took a photo of something the exact same size as your sensor, it would (actually, you "could") totally fill the frame of your photo.
