Raw format

Not sure if this is in the right part of the forum excuse me


Hello could any one help me please I have taken my pictures in RAW format. But when I have them on my laptop I can't seem to open the file it's just a blank sheet paper for the image icon

Any help would be great

You need to have a program to read the RAW files. Most use Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw (both are available for a free 30 day trial from Adobe).

Your camera should of came with software. Nikon its ViewNX2 and Canon its DPP I think... Not a Canon user here. Installing that will allow you to work with your raw files.

Win 7 view raw files will allow you to see them on windows 7.
Picasa is free and allow some basic editing.

I use Lightroom myself as has all the Bells & Whistles with more advanced editing,cataloging and tagging images.

Hey guys thanks for the reply. It allowed me to open them on the software that came with the camera. It's kind of slow and only shows one at a time doesn't allow me to see the whole folder of them. do these programmes let you convert them to jpeg files?

The supplied software should be able to convert them.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, try IrfanView.
