15 years in film? From your avatar, you only look about 20 years old, hehehe. (or maybe that is your daughter?)
Anyway, I agree that TIFF is the format to save to for printing.
Not only is some detail lost through compression in jpg, but mid-tones are also lost. If you ever have a chance to compare a jpg digital shot to a film shot in which there is both bright sunlight and shade, the shade is usually just turned to near-black in the digital shot.
It is one of the reasons lots of folks still like B&W film. All the beautiful mid-tones.
I wish I could afford enough memory to shoot in RAW!
