Reading Advise Requested!!

I am a beginner and was wondering if there is a book or a site that would allow me to grasp basic information on digital photography so that I proceed on with "educated" experimentations. Please advise me if you know something of the short.

I believe the titles Shelley posted in the other thread are books; you can buy them and read them anywhere :greenpbl: A search with google or Amazon should yield results.

I have a CD with step-by-step instructions issued by National Geographic. Very good. My version is the German one, though. I would assume there should be an "original" one, i.e. one in English, out there, too, but I would not know where to get it. But my "Big National Geographic Photoguide" is really interesting, and all the example photos are, of course, first rate!

Edit: Oh, the handbook says "Based on the CD-ROM Corso di Fotografia, Edizioni La Repubblica 2002, Italy" ... hm...
But it also says "©2003 National Geographic Society"... you might find out some more if you start there?
