Hi,

I would like to photograph real estate properties doing virtual tour photography. I have been looking all over the net trying to find out how to get started at this and can't find anything- book, website. Can anyone help me or give me any advise.
Thanks,
Frank

hiya Frank

a few years ago - i was into messing around with some software
made by Photovista - which enabled you to 'stitch' photos together to
create 360 panoramas. people didnt have to have the plug-in to view this,
you could have this viewer on a webpage running with java.

of course that viewer was, as 'within' a subject looking around you.

if you want an outside view of something - and the ability to spin it,
to view its surface either clockwise or anti-clockwise - then you want QTVR
(quicktime).

in 99, i worked for a design-house which was collaborating with Apple,
to pioneer a technology, which has subsequently been used in various
tv ads (the Guiness 'through the mind's eye' advert, was a memorable
example of this in use). the technology was called Resolution-on-Demand.
this allowed a continous zooming into, and through, subjects , using
dynamic server-scripting to substitute an image-file for the next closer-up-
detail image-file. the effect was an animation which took the viewer as far
into/through a subject, as was required.

i have no idea whether this has been released as commercial software.
if it has - it needs a lot of hardware-power and RAM to run in real-time.
i think the photovista software was free once upon a time, maybe still so
on a limited trial..//jack

i used to freelance for a real estate company taking photographs for them .. u may want to contact a few companies to see if they need this kind of help

I have photovista software that I got with my digital camera and it works great, I just have to find out how to get started in this business besides contacting the realtors.
Thanks for your posts.
