Photos NOT OK to edit
I was quite happy with how this turned out. This is pretty much straight out of camera with a few slight adjustments. I'm not normally a fan of flare, but I like the way it looks in this photo.

Comments, suggestions? Thank you.

I think it turned out great. I don't really have much to say in critique....

Well I guess that's a good sign. :-) thank you!

Its a good sign. I'm still pretty amateur though so maybe some more seasoned professionals will be able to provide a better critique.

I try to view it as if I was the person paying for the wedding shoot would I be happy. I would be happy if I received this shot.

She did see the photo online and loved it.... So I am happy about that. Can't always take comments from non photographers to the bank. So I posted it here. I'm glad you like it though. Thank you!

IMO sunflare can either make or break an image...here it made it...good job:)

Flare, if done well, can be very pleasing. I like how the sun frames Mom's head. I like that it shows through the veil and I like the effect on the Dad's hat. The only think I don't really like is when blacks turn green. I know that's the nature of it but I wonder what it would look like if you tweaked the blacks a bit?

Contre-jour for the win!!!!

Nice shootin, man!

Using this approach reduces things to their core. The large hat the bride's father wore...the bride in her veil between her parents...the mother's hair color...the people behind...those coniferous trees...the wedding guests...ALL the elements become sublimated to their very essence...they become ICONS.

Strong shot. Sound principles of photography.

"Artistry".

Neat term. I wasn't familiar with that term for backlighting.

Christina, I see what you mean. I may indeed play around with the blacks and see what the result is.

Thank you all for the comments thus far.

Contre-jour is an entire style of photography. And it is an entire "way" of showing things with a camera.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for making more images within the same style if the opportunity is presented. This shot was more of a happy accident than a planned shot.

im not typically a fan of flare...but i must admit, i like it on this shot. I am jealous.

Like it a lot. Like I've said before, your shots are one of the bigger reasons I reconsidered my initial position of never doing weddings. This is another of those reasons.

one nit, and it's such a minor nit I wouldn't mention to anybody but a couple shooters here, who I know would realize it is just such a minor nit:

that the one guy, with the sunglasses on to the image's far right is sort of distracting, because's he's the only one that doesn't look gauze-y. My eye is drawn to him perhaps a bit more than it maybe 'should' be. He just seems a bit 'clearer' tonality wise than the rest of the image.

Thank you Franklin for the feedback. I see what you're saying about how the sunglasses guy pops out... I think that has something to do with the CoC that is created from the hot spot on his nose. I'm not quite sure how to tackle that, but I will definitely take it into consideration and try a few things. Maybe even a simple darkening of the spot would make it less "in your face."

Again, thank you for rendering your thoughts, and the kind words.
