C&C always appreciated.

#1

#2 - I try to use vignetting in moderation but I just felt this photo benefited from the use, for framing purposes. Your opinion may differ.

Update: Edited photo #2 to lighten

Yeah, I am afraid my opinion differ for both post processing. Personally I would just make them b&w and call it good :).

I think the shallow DoF of #1 is not appropriate for the subject, and that the lighting is weak. The scene has a strong leading line that leads the eye right past the point of focus to blurred background, and out of the frame on the left.

#2 looks under exposed and the white vignette seems to heavy. I also think the composititon is weak from having to much space to camera left leaving the main subject, the fisherman, to little space in the frame to be looking off to camera right. However, if that was done from the same camera position the composition would be unbalanced. If the camera position had been further to the right I think it could have been made a stronger photo.

Perhaps you will like this angle a little better?

I personally like the last one you posted PLUS if you had a big portion of the middle of the water ripple in the frame.

Thanks for the advice Schwetty. This is all the ripple that I captured.

I like the last one the best. maybe clone out the little box. I think the perfect scenario is when line just hit the water so the ripple circle is smaller.. but personally I would be happy with the last one. It looks like it follows ROT perfectly too.

White Vignette ... kill ... it ... with fire!

I don't mind #1, but the sky is crazy blown out, just a white blob.

Agree with Schwetty on the last one you posted, A LOT better composition.

Yes, and the ripples in the water help balance the composition. I prefer this one over the wider shot. The tackle box is distracting.

I think an exposure correction, a little off the top, and blue water would help:

The fisherman in post #4 and #6 looks MUCH better than the originally shown vignetted image.

Yeah, do not like the vignette. Avoid this at all cost. If you want to frame a photo, print it and buy a frame, lol. personally I like to use 1" movie style borders on the top and bottom to frame a shot. very classic and timeless.

One more thing, I also think this shot would be in bw. i guess there is just something about your style that calls for it. okay scene too. Next time try to get some background in the shot too so we get a sense of the area.
