A couple recent shoots of a recent shoot for a young ladies pageant portfolio. The second shot has gotten her a photogenic winner.

White balance looks off in both of these, but more noticable in the second. Cute kiddo.

Why would you shoot under the conditions apparent in #2 and NOT use some form of fill light???? Her eyes are two dark holes.

It was a last minute shoot, didn't have all my normal gear with me.

You are the first to mention her eyes in that second. Now it hits me. just goes to show everyone sees something different.

Hope you dont mind, I edited! I Played with the color balance some and tried to cool it down. I by all means was just experimenting. :)

Nice shots!

Her face in #2 looks cute, but my eye is drawn to the wood slat. Not sure what type of pageants she does, but this does not really reflect the typical pageant shots I've seen.

Awesome that she won photogenic for the shot.

She does natural pageants only. Glitz pageants involve totally different pictures all around.

Haya - Looks good. Need to let my wife look at the difference on those. TY!

for a young ladies pageant portfolio.
Wow...'ladies' are getting younger and younger. Soon there will be in utero pageants.

Cute kid. Besides the WB issues, the thing that jumps out at me, are the dark eyes in the second photo. Notice the nice bright catchlights in the first one...it really makes the lack of catchlights in the second one stand out.

Thanks for the feedback all. That is why I posted some. I can tell there is a good deal of learning to do, but I am all for that.

Very orange.
Did you shoot these in a raw format?

Yeah. I believe I was doing both raw and jpg at that time. We had just gotten light room before that. Amazing how different I look at these now.
