I didn't say I hated doors; I said I don't see anything about this picture that would attract so much interest.
The pieces that seem the most interesting are paired on the sides - but the framing makes them seem subordinate to those rather ordinary doors.

As regards your 'roughly straightened'- you beat the living crap out of the picture to show.... 'what' ? that a plugin can make things worse than they were before?

You have 500 posts and you've started 8 threads and only one of those was an actual picture.
Rather than tell everyone what they are doing wrong, why don't you lead the way and start posting some pictures and show us amateurs how its done?

I like the symmetry a lot. Great detail, but the top of the photo comes across as cropped and lacking something. Other than that I think it's cool.

Annnd its not a plug in. Its Transform. In photoshop CS4. Its not a 2 second process, yet I made it one. And if you open both images and look at the difference, you will see that my "****ty" one is still straighter architecturally than the original. Yes I know its not near perfect, hence the ROUGH The plug in just pulled detail, a little like an HDR would. I like it. You don't have to. Either way its not my image. Nor is it really an interesting argument.

When I see a pretty symmetrical shot, like this, I expect to find the most interesting thing(s) at the center.
But to me, these doors don't seem to be anything special, just doors.
Am I missing something?

This can easily be read as "Doors are boring as cat poop". Which is why I exaggerated a little and said you hated them. Door hater.

You're really showing something with those.
My point is here, Bossy, is that you are doing terrible things to this picture and passing it off as 'better.'

It's not, it's terrible and no amount of backing and filling and pleading that it was just a bit of time really makes up for the fact that you did a bad job and no amount of new people saying they love it will make it better.

Bossy, being a complete and utter newbie at all of this, I certainly can't comment on whether the editing you did is good or bad, but I'm curious if it would be possible to fix one thing in what you did. While I can definitely see that it appears straighter from one side to the other in your latter post comparing the two, when I first looked at your version of the picture I didn't notice that at all. What I did notice was that the phone booth on the right appeared very distorted and unreal because of the slant of the lines. I have to say that it gave me a kind of sea sick feeling and felt almost like a Salvador Dali painting (ok...maybe a bit of an overexaggeration). I love the other stuff you did to the picture, but is there a way to correct that, or is that just inevitable in the process of straightening the picture?
