I had the job of photographing this festival in Venice last Saturday, the aim is to make a commemorative CD for the people who were on the boat. Choosing a selection to show here was a challenge as representing such a huge event is difficult in a few pics. The biggest challenge however was trying to shoot fireworks on a boat! Also being in a boat, it's hard to show the thousands of boats that were on the water....anyhow here's my selection. 1 Not far from our starting point on the river. 2 Other boats moving in to position themselves for the night. 3 You're where? 4 A peaceful multicultural affair. 5 A small section of craft in the setting sun. 6 Our next door neighbour...with a nice little church in the background. 7 The magic moments of late afternoon light. 8 Looking towards San Marco Square. 9 Dinner at twilight...a mixture of fresh seafood cooked on board. 10 Getting in the party mood...dragging the shutter shots for the next few. 11 Oh yeah, party's jumping now. 12 Neighbours on the other side...from Germany. 13 11:30 pm fireworks time...remember hand held on a moving boat! 14 15 16 Finale
What a fun thread! You did well with all those handheld shots on a moving boat in some difficult lighting conditions. Those are some very long rafts of boats! Looks like everyone was having a good time, and will enjoy the shots that you captured for them
thanks very much Anty, I took 220 shots and got 90 keepers and the boat movement certainly didn't help with the score . The number of boats increased as the night came on, not possible to show the scene at it's peak but it was a huge party atmosphere. I think they will like the memory too.
