refurbished cameras?

how does everybody feel about them? adorama has a d40x for 299.95 body only. i have a d50 now but im thinking about getting a back up and something that my wife can tinker with. is this a good buy or should i save my pennies and buy a new one?

I've never had a problem with refurbished items. As long as it comes with a good warranty, I wouldn't worry.

Just got my wife a refurb
d40 and it is fine.
Refurbished by Nikon with one year warranty.

For photography, if you can find it used and the glass is clean, you're pretty much an idiot if you still decide to buy it new for hundreds of dollars more.
