So your stuck with trying to keep the remote out of your shot. Not sure if Nikon is like that but it's one of those things that makes you wonder, what were they thinking....

It's pretty easy. Set the IR release for a 2 second delay, pop it, and palm the remote.

Want to show me how to do that on a Canon 5DIII. It's been a while but if I remember correctly there was not an option to set the timer and set it to use a remote at the same time.
