remove light, make face warmer

How can I remove the annoying light reflection in the background of this photo?
I would also like to tidy it up a bit, make the skin tone warmer, etc.
I tried som contrast effects and that seemed to help but not completely.

That's the one I have to work with at the moment.
...and just looking to try out some effects in Paint.NET

I keep trying to change the background wall colour but it cuts into some of the body
