Removing dust from negatives

Anyone have a favorite product/technique they'd be willing to share? I'm starting to scan 6x6 negatives and reverse film with a scanner and I'm having issues with dust, in some cases enough that it's taking hours with photoshop to correct.

Suggestions are appreciated!

I use a blusher brush, as they go on the scanner, very soft and big, one sweep clears the width of a 6x6 neg, they dont seem to hold much dust but that might depend on the fiber material.
Whatever, dust is a fact of life, you cant be rid of it all unless you scan in a surgically dust free environment.
