What's new

Rented a lens for the weekend, C&C?

I feel like you could have used manual focus and got her eyes and face more in focus in the second one... she's very pretty :)

You got the focus on her eyes, yay! She's quite lovely. Nice photo. Light's a little flat, but you're shooting available, so you take what you get. I like the doorway, it's a great color for her and an interesting setup.

I've been trying to not to use my flash so much and work with the light that's available, tips?

It's tough to get good light that's also natural light. Evenings and mornings work better since the light it more from the side, but generally you have a choice between cloudy/shady -> too diffuse to be interesting and direct sunlight -> too intense.

Either way, experiment with using reflective or white surfaced objects to bounce light into shadows (to soften the look up when it's too intense), or to intensify the light (when it's too diffuse). Anything will work. A guy in a white shirt standing just out of frame will have a STARTLING effect, once you start looking closely.

I rented the 24-70 f2.8 over the weekend, and put together a few "photoshoots"with with friends. Enjoy

How much was the rental? Considering all the "helpful comments" being posted, I hope you got lots more photos than this one.

I did 6 "shoots" and also took some pictures of my nephew. I feel like I got my money's worth :) I'm not a pro, and don't even claim to be a real photographer. I just rented the lens because I had heard so many good things about it and wanted to give it a try :)
