Not bad at all!

The composition is a bit funky on the first shot, but I like the layers of different textures you see in this shot. Some nice line patterns and light in the second shot. What could have made that shot better is something other than trees at the end of the lines. A silhouette of a person, a dog, some focal point to complement the linear perspective...

#1 very interesting, nice compo. What I don't like is the part behind the bridge, that requires burning.. On the other hand landscape image should have deeper DoF. . Obviously your goal was sharp capture of the flawing water and that looks fine. Maybe, if you can't use a small aperture you should use the largest to put on the BG nice bokeh instead of being only out of focus.
#2 doesn't move me. The isolation of the main motive didn't happened, at the end of this bridge is just jumble of details messing up the picture.

Thanks, I had a couple ways to go with number 1. As it was mostly a fun shot I picked this way just for water play, the stone was a afterthought and this was originally color. The better way I considered was going bw, concentrating on the stone work and lowering the shutter speed to blur the waterfall and step back a little more. The stonework fits with the bw. and speeding up the waterfall is as easy as slowing it down. I could make a really nice photo of 1, i probably will do it again at some point. Agree on the background under the bridge, i can make that go away. Also concentrating on the stonework i could lower the contrast more instead of having it so high to get the lines there out of the stone in this one. The contrast is way too high in 1, i lost the stones in the tunnel and that also made the other side of the tunnel in the light more prominent. Number 1 wasn't shot to be a bw, and it is obvious. Planning bw i never would have done it this way.


photo 2 goes nowhere. It was mostly shadow play. Taken from the other side of the bridge i can get a nice green tree in it, but for the sake of bw the green tree doesn't do much better than the side i took it from. i do have photos of my boys on the bridge and walking over it from before in the same perspective. so at least it leads you to someone. But i try not to use my family members for photo brownie points (way to easy ready made subjects). lol

If the tree could be placed right in the middle and against clean sky it might be something.
