Hey, JW: One of the things we have to deal with in a setting like this is that everybody's monitor will be a little different. My edit looks good on my monitor, while yours looks dark. I did, however, desatch the color a bit, as I described, then brought it back on the eyes and lips, for a stylized look.
I have my monitor matched to my Epson R2400 printer, and the brightness is set at about 50%. I know others run a higher brightness. A lot of LCD monitors are really bright, too, and I've heard people have difficulty calibrating them and their prints come out dark. Finally, as Vice pointed out, the photo hosting sites (like Photobucket) will flatten the pics a little. All things to consider.
