Rescue Me

Hi all,

This is my first post and I hope someone can help. I'm trying to make and/or rework pictures to get a greyish tint to my photographs. By greyish I mean in the sense as the opening shots of the tv series Rescue Me. Here they made shot (film) of NYC but they have this really nice, cold/greyish look.

Now I'm wondering how I can recreate this in digital photography. I;m using a Nikon D40.

it looks liek they just made the images darker and lowered the contrast...

would help if you linked us to the opening credit.
