Well I told Red Devil that I would take some pictures and post my thoughts on the new 70-300mm VR lens that I got today. Don't mind the crappy lighting and the horrible composition. I was sort of in a rush to get these done so I could relax for the night. All of the pictures are taken at 1/60s shutter speed and HAND HELD. I took pictures at 70mm, 145mm, and 300mm. I also took pictures of those focal points at wide open and f11. Wide open varies on this lens from f4.5-f5.6. I am very happy with the sharpness of this lens compared to the 70-300mm G lens I had. Not to mention this friggin VR thing rocks. The fact that I can hand hold at 1/60 at a 300mm focal length and still get sharp pictures is great. Hope these pictures help those of you that are on the fence about getting one.

probably blows your sigma out of the water eh?

Without a doubt. These pictures really do this no justice. At 1/60 my other 70-300mm would look like a friggin puddle of color and the sigma looks like the whole picture has Gaussian blur. :) This lens is very impressive, atleast to my noob eye. ;)

even when the sigma DID make a sharp image, I bet the Nikkor is still sharper.

looking good :D

awwww i want one now :)

i have put my investment of a 70-300mm normal lens on hold now.

i want/need a VR version now with ED glass

instead of paying £129 for a normal version, i am going to wait another week and get another weeks wage in, and buy the VR version for approx £330

looks like its worth it ;)
