Road trip

Me and my wife are taking a road trip from St. Louis to southern California in July and would like to find some quality opportunities for photography along the way and on the way back. We will only have about 2 days travel each way if anyone has any ideas of good places to stop please let me know.

That's 1800 miles in two days.
Not much time for sleeping, eating or toilet breaks, let alone photography.

Going through Colorado adds just a few miles but lots of time. (I used to live in Denver and Colorado Springs)
Going across the mountains is slow and twisty driving.
And there is no guarantee you won't get caught behind slower vehicles going up any of the passes.
I just don't see how you expect to do this in two days - and stop for sight-seeing and photos.
