In a hotel in Udomxai, a town in the north of Laos, very close to China. The town is probably 30% Chinese nationals and serves as a weekend getaway for many Chinese.
There are Chinese restaurants, shops and hotels.

Although the rules sound draconian, the actual experience was great. Lao people are gracious and civil.
