Rose-breasted Grosbeak for C&C

I can't tell if he looks real sharp or not. What do you think? And is the composition OK?

Some camera shake and motion blur too perhaps. It isn't sharp.

Beautiful bird but it looks to me like your focus fell a little behind the bird but not by much. A tighter crop would improve the composition.

OK, so I shot this at 1/200, f7.1 with a focal length of 200mm at about ten feet. That gives me a DOF of about 2.5'. How do I increase my DOF? Move back or decrease the focal length of the lens? Then crop in post. I think it would have helped also if I had shot this at a higher ISO which would have given me a higher shutter speed. Correct?

Any other suggestions?

2.5' is sufficient DOF. The best aperture selection is about optimal resolution too. YMMV but handheld 200mm i would want 1/500sec or faster. Also I'd set the camera on continuous shot and fire off a couple, hoping the second frame is sharper.
