I like the crop, I kind of wish more of the outer petals was in focus but I really like how soft the background is.

Nothing wrong with a square format. It certainly works in this case. Your choice of a shallow DOF works effectively, and is pleasing to ones eye. Outstanding composition and exposure. Well done.
