Yesterday working in the garden we finished chopping up all the rose cuttings from the pruning that was done earlier. The bushes have already begun leafing out nicely. I really like the way the leaves start out red and change to green as they mature.

I like the tones of the new leaves ...burn in the background to give a little more drama.

Yeah, a nice vision moment you spotted there. It's true..they start out red, then change to green!!! 10 years ago, in February of 2003, I took a shot of a rose outside in the back yard...it was a beautiful red coloration...the rose variety is named Cecilly Brunner (I think I am spelling that correctly). It was a climbing variety, and had loads of beautiful, small, pink blooms peaking the first half of June.

I have always enjoyed roses. They're a very popular photographic subject.

I prefer the original actually. I see your point though.

Thanks. That's a lovely shot you got there.

They're a lot of work and those thorns -- ouch! But the flowers can be incredible. My wife has seven varieties in the garden this season.
