I've found that for me, photographing Roses, especially red ones, is way harder then most other flowers. I don't really understand why, but I've yet to take a picture of a Red Rose I've liked. White, Yellows, and Pinks, just seem to translate into better pictures for me, no matter the lighting conditions.

Here's a 6 picture set of Pink Roses, shot in very diffused soft light. So soft that it was misting on and off.

Thanks for stopping by.

Nice shots, I like the two last ones best

I like the 5th one (next to the last) the best by far, it really pops for me.

5th one for me as well, beautiful. Kind of wish that leaf at the bottom wasn't there, but it's still a really beautiful shot.

Bellezzo, Greybeard, & ADavis85. Thanks so much for your kind words. That leaf was a bother to me as well, but since I use Capture NX, I can't clone, just paint, and it's just too big to accomplish it and still look natural. I could have cut off the leaf out in the field, but it's not allowed.

Nice set Joel :) I'm going to go against popular opinion and pick the third and last as my favs :) love the colours!
I've been playing with roses in my garden and the red ones are def tough , getting definition and contrast is the biggest challenge for me.

Judi, You picked my favorites too. Just can't understand given the same light and conditions why Red Roses are so tough. It's driving me nuts.
