These were shot with a canon 300mm f/2.8IS mounted on a canon 1DMKIII

Great shots, well done. As with most good sports photos, the facial expressions make all the difference.
Also, nice work in what looks to be tough lighting conditions, with the stadium shadow cutting across the field.

And he took advantage of the shadow. It's almost as if the players are highlighted, while the rest is in shadow.

I agree with you Big Mike about the facial expressions, a little easier with rugby than American football.......
Lighting conditions were a bit of a challenge, but I was able to use the afternoon light to my advantage.

D-B-J, I was just concentrating on the ball carrier as he entered the light from the shadow and was able to frame him in the light and the other players in the shadow.
