Sadness on the mountain

Our hearts are aching this morning after losing a neighbor to violence at Mt Rainier yesterday. I did not personally know Margaret Anderson, though she always smiled and said hi as I would go by her house when I was out on a run.

Somehow the mountain always seems to reflect the mood of events going on around it.

Last evening a dark cloud hung over the area...

And this morning dawned bright red as the manhunt for the killer continues...

This whole ranger incident is quite sad, I just read she was a mother of two young children.

These photographs are beautiful though, and look fantastic together. If these were my photographs I would make prints of them, and then hang them on a wall as you have them displayed here (blue on top, red on the bottom).

The mountain took care of things. Luckily no one else was injured and the bad guy was found face down in a stream wearing only a T-shirt, jeans and one tennis shoe with about 60" of snow on the ground. No we can start to grieve for this young mother and do what we can to help her family through this terrible time.

It's amazing how something can affect your thoughts. We live in a small town of about 2,000 people where everyone still says hi to strangers, we wave at each other as we pass, stop our daily walks for a bit of gabbing on the side walk, and do what we can to help each other out. This really stings, it just doesn't make any sense why this had to happen.

It looks as though they found the suspect, dead of course, face down in the snow.
