Safe to attach Lens Case to Top Loader Case on NYC streets?

I will be traveling to NYC and just got a Lowepro AW70 case for my Canon Rebel XTi. It seems a bit smaller than I anticipated, but I really want a top loader case for easy access. What are the chances that someone could snag my lens case if I used that feature of the camera bag?

Any other top loader bag recommendations?

If you want a bag that doesn't scream "expensive camera gear" then don't buy an expensive camera bag.

I've had a Lowepro toploader for 15 years or more and traveled western Europe with it sporting a Canon EOS. I now use it for my M4/3 camera. I also wear a Black Rapids camera strap in conjunction. You should be fine. I like the new style better than mine with the side opening. Much like a backpack style bag, it's great to have both hands free.

I missread your concern. I also have a Lowepro lens case. It is solid and the velcro strapping will not be easy to remove for any potential thief. You will certainly know it if it happens.

Travelling alone, I typically have my equipment in a smaller size 'gym bag'. Actually, it's a small, rectangular travel bag from Walmart. Each of the lenses I carry is in its own Lowepro case and the camera in its own case. I generally 'top off' the bag with clean clothing items, although the weight would give it away.

When out walking, the bag is over my shoulder using the shoulder strap, and I'm concurrently holding on to the hand straps as well. If I can, I'll store the bag securely somewhere (paid locker, hotel room, etc) and have camera and lens in one hand, and at most one other lens in a Lowepro lens case secured through my belt. They are designed to be secured that way. Of course, the Lowepro case used has to be the one for the larger of the two lenses I'm using.
