First shot with the Df 50mm kit lens. I been driving by this door every day for the past 10 years. I always study while waiting at the traffic light.
6 degrees and overcast. I couldn't think of a better day to finally capture it. As always, critique is welcome

This. For me, it's just lacking a place of focus, almost like you focused in TOO much.

I started playing with this idea, but discarded it and went tighter. this is very crude. Like I said, I discarded the idea without refining it.

I think somewhere in between the two; I love the detail in the capitols, and I think a little careful work would bring out the lettering perfectly. There's definitely a good image there, you just have to find it.

Now I know, why you studied this gates that much. This shot has an atmosphere.

Thanks. I would sit at that traffic light and see those shadows hitting the white scroll work and tell myself I really needed to capture that one day. I was going to go in close for the cracking paint detail, but it seems my first crop got the vote.

Thanks for your input . A photo is like a joke. Like a joke, not everyone has the same sense of humor. Also like a joke, if you have to explain it, it's not working... at least for you. By the lack of fanfare, apparently you aren't alone. I usually get low feedback because many people don't "get" my photography and that's ok.
For me this one is about symmetry and character of the wood, along with the flowing shades of gray.
