Santa Marta, Colombia.
A very common on the Colombian coast but in other parts of Colombia not seen.
I am not sure why it is only found east of the Andes

It is a great place with far more bird species than the US or UK. The only thing that it doesn't have that we in the UK have (or the US I think) is the vast numbers of seabirds at places like Bempton, Farne Isles etc(I assume that there are some similar places in the US).

Yes, the costal areas have a lot of birds here in the US.
