Saving a wounded comrade (C&C welcome)

Shots of a statue on the NC State Capital grounds honoring our Viet Nam servicemen. These may be more appropriate in a different forum, but in honor of Memorial Day I'm going ahead and putting them in "people". As always, C&C appreciated.

(Cropped close on the right to remove a lamp post. I'd like to also get rid of the cars in the background. I also don't like how the front soldier's gun hides his face.)

(May be the stronger of the two "full image" pictures. This doesn't have the distracting background, and you can see both soldier's faces.)

(Close-up of the rear soldier. I like how the guns frame his face. I also think the empty space above him accentuates his concerns - and provides a little "hopefulness"?)
