Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hi- I was wondering what you all save your images in after you edit them? I shoot in RAW then usually save jpeg--I dont know what the other ones are. What one gives the best print quality? Does that even matter for print quality?

THANKS again :) You guys are GREAT!

I never change a SOOC raw. Never.

I always save the edits. I may edit a given image many steps, and might save it during those several steps. I will start out with IMAGE0001.NEF and begin to edit it, saving it as IMAGE0001EDIT1.TIF. After a few more steps, I save again as IMAGE0001EDIT2.TIF. Repeat as needed.

If it's a simple 2- or 1-step edit, I'll save it directly as a JPEG.

Saving in JPEG is fine...but keep in mind that JPEG is a lossy, compression format. In other words, every time you save an image as a JPEG, it compresses the data and you loose a bit of 'quality'.

This isn't really something to worry about, because you could probably save it many, many times over, before you notice anything.

You could save as TIFF, which would allow you to keep the quality...but the file sizes are much, much bigger.
