I had my wife order a SB600 flash bulb on ebay. It was from a US seller but after my wife ordered it I checked at the listing and based on price I have a feeling it is a aftermarket bulb.

It was only $6.00. Has anyone used one of these? Looks like I an get an original one in the $20.00 range if I wait an buy another one.

was it hard to install?
i just broke a bulb on one of my sb 600s, and was looking to get another

check out my other thread - I fried my SB600 :(

In the past I have soldered mod chips inside nintendos(little chips with 10 tiny wires). I still thought it was hard. Find my other thread as I mention a set of instructions that explained how to discharge the capicator which would have prevented the meltdown.

Given Personalt's experience, if you don't do it right, you can very easily injure yourself.
