i've heard and read very differing things regarding which cards to use for this camera.
i didn't realize that it uses both SD and CF cards.
i've been told that CF is older technology-- but is is more robust and secure. (as you know, it is expensive).
i'm an art photorapher and videographer primarily, but am interested in working in editorial fashion/portraiture.
i don't shoot Weddings, Sports or in-the-field Documentary.
i'm fairly new to digital imaging.

i was planning on just buying a couple of Sandisc Extreme Pro 16 or 32 GB cards.
do i really NEED the CF cards?
is one better for still or for video?
remember, my work at this time is in contemporary art (still and video).

Today SD cards are so cheap, you can't go wrong. Yes CF is more reliable but SD cards are better. Get a good class 10 from San Disk or Transcend.

SD cards a dirt cheap but as Derrel mentioned, CF cards are faster in recording and for buffer reasons. If you don't care about that then an SD card is ok but I prefer a CF card.

use good quality sd and cf cards in your d800.
