Yes, when rolling clouds are crossing your viewpoint, seconds between exposures can make a big difference.
ps- I've had occasions when while driving along I've seen a shot, but when parked and walked back to the spot, the clouds have rolled in and it is not the same. Waiting for 10-minutes sometimes brings it back again, other times the car horn beeps and 'the boss' reminds me that we're supposed to be somewhere else at that time.
