I gather from Gary's comment that he plays, ahem, soccer, but let me ask on behalf of all the colonials....who is it?

All I know is most of them are wankers, my dad built an extension for an ex Man City manager biggest tosser I have ever met I upset him when I said I prfer rugby because its a gentlemans game

Yes, I know, there is still some low class stigma attached to football in England and some people pretend they love rugby because they played it as kids in their imaginary public school. Rugby for me is an entertainment for yobs and aristocrats and I despise both. And anyway, why on earth would you watch rugby when there is American football, which is, well, a pro rugby on steroids. Figuratively speaking . And by the way not all footballers are wankers. There are foreigners as well.

Surely you are joking. There is no comparison that will hold. (Uh, well, except for the money) I enjoy watching rugby, and almost cannot stand watching American football.

I love American football. It is man-on-man contest, like a pitcher-batter duel, a boxing match ... but at nearly every position on every play.

Speaking to the "low class" remark of football/soccer ...
This was some years ago, but I remember speaking with some Europeans about their adventures in America. One guy said that when he was in San Francisco, he and his traveling bud decided to take in an American sporting event and went to a Giants baseball game. They were amazed that streaming into the stadium were families ... with CHILDREN. Not knowing the game, they were bored after a few innings ... but kept themselves amused by consuming all the weird foods.
