Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
A mom emailed me asking if I could make only the red hearts on the backdrop and the red in the kids shirt show and everything else in bw! gah!!!!

I personally do not like selective color.

With that being said, she wants it on two digital files, that is $80 dollars. I need money. lol

So....

WWYD?

do it.. shouldnt be hard. 5 minutes maybe?

It is not hard, I'd do it in LR.
But it is just the ichyness of Selective Color....

Are you asking if you should charge your mom?

Edit: sorry, it says a mom.

I personally think that you should try to keep your client happy, sometimes they will like something that you'd never think they would and it's their favorite. Especially if you need the money, I would give her what she asked for. Maybe show her some "vintage" shots and see what she thinks about that, it may be that she just doesn't know anything else and doesn't want a traditional photo. I'm sick and rambling so hope this makes a little bit of sense!

it happened to me with one of my car photos.

Money is money. Even though it may not be your favorite style, there is a market for selective coloring and some people really do enjoy it. It's an easy job, so I say take the money and run :)

+1 million.
Why does it bother you if they are paying for it. If you feel that it violates some ethical boundry of your own don't do it. If you just think that people are going to frown upon your use of selective coloring wtf cares. It gave you money. At then end of the day the only people that really matter is your husband and children. I say do it and don't look back.

$80 dollars is $80 dollars and like you have already said 'i need money'.

I personally like selective color. It's a valuable tool with the color adjustments I have to do at work.

I agree with everyone else. If she is already willing to pay that $80 for the "extra" editing on the images, go for it.

I don't have a set rate for any extra editing because it really depends on what it is and I charge more for my time than the skill it takes to do some things.

For a BW conversion, $5. For selective color, it depends on how I have to do it. If I have to do it in PS and use layer masks and selections and all that craziness, the client is getting charged at least $25 for it. If I can do it quickly in LR, I might charge $15. It all depends... But then again, I'm cheap compared to a lot of other photographers :)

there is a price and it is more than 80$

i suppose next time i go order a burger at burger king and the burger flipper refuses to make one with no pickles because all burgers should have pickles i shouldnt mind

lol wut, charging 80 bucks for ~10 minutes of post processing work on 2 files?

Seems a little steep to me.

she meant $80 to purchase the files.
