its not spam. the kid isn't a photographer. he took a picture with his laptop's camera. he should have used common sense and not posted this here as it does not belong.

i think he should stick to myspace

Dude, he's been a member here longer than you...

What does that have to do with anything? I agree with WhineAndDine. Not necessarily that the kid isn't a photographer, but that he should've had sense enough to not bother posting a full front, "I'm so bored" self portrait taken with a webcam.

You sell webcam photos? Or do you have a DSLR? Do you have a link to some of the photos you've sold? I wouldn't mind checking them out.

that doesn't have anything to do with what i was saying.

this site isn't for pictures asking members if they think you look good or not. its for polishing photography skills. anything taken with a webcam is a joke to me. sorry but thats just how i feel. your womanly instinct of protecting the young one is useless here because he needs to learn the difference between appropriate and not appropriate.

Okay, this is ridiculous, i have seen photos way worse than this posted in this forum, and people sugar coat all day long what a great photograph it is. I have posted some really crappy photos in this forum, some worse than this. How is it different, because he used a webcam? Well, where do you draw the line? Would it be any different had he shot this same photo with a DSLR? What about a point and shoot, or a point and shoot less than 3 mp? What if he had shot it with a disposable camera? or a cell phone camera? Who cares what the medium is, the photo should be judged on its own merit.

As far as the photo goes, I like the lines in it, I think that's about it. The lighting is poor and as mentioned, the photo is not sharp. I think the centered composition could work if you used it with the lines and perspective in the background, but unfortunately, the lighting destroys the shot. Also mentioned was how the camera was too low. Anyway, keep posting web cams pics, if for nothing else but to piss people off who take themselves and this site way too seriously

oh boy.

i think the difference here...and i could be mistaken...is that zero thought went into this picture. the point of C&C, for me anyway, is to improve your photo skills.
i think lots of times, when people get C&C, they go back and shoot, taking some of the comment into account, and try to produce another BETTER photo.
is he going to get a bunch of feedback on here for this shot, and do a reshoot? unlikely.
now maybe im wrong, but i think C&C posts are for thought out or artistic shots. this would be ok for the JUST FOR FUN forum....was this more than just for fun?
we may never know because the OP dropped this garbage in here, and hasnt really come back to explain why, or what his intentions were.

would he take heat if it was done with a DLSR, or a disposable, or a P&S, or a polaroid....?
depends...was he trying something artistic or technical? did any thought go into the photo other than....oh ill take this while i sit on the tarmac?

people would take heat here for posting an obviously bad pic for C&C even if it was taken with a D3x...

what do i know.

I am also keen to see some of the quality photos taken by him. Please show us.

Nowadays everybody is taking photos. So, everybody is a photographer. But I think we are here to discurss, share and gain knowledges about The Art of Photography. We are trying hard to do it. Aren't we?

It's very true that we are not absolutely sure about his intention but don't you guys think we are at least that much matured to guess the intention about a poster?

There is no doubt that he is a kid but don't you guys have doubts about the fact that the kid who sells his photos and who has taken such a self portrait is the same person?

Is there really any point of backing such a boy?

i have an idea for this thread....

as requested by the photographer...give him C&C on his self portrait.

go.

Dont worry about all the negative comments - have fun with ur webcam.

Ahaha perople are so mean nowadays.
Has anyone ever heard of being kind and not acting like a total jerk?
The guy just wanted some feedback, most likely because he was bored.

Anyways, yeah it is low resolution, but then again its a webcam, so you can't do much about that, especially when you are on a plane That is a plane right? It's centered pretty well. It would look pretty decent if you throw it into photoshop, changed it to B&W, and added some contrast to it. Maybe get rid of some of the noise too.

**yet another thread confirming why I don't post photos anymore on TPF**

Here's a thought for the OP.... if this opportunity arises again (in similar lighting conditions) have someone use a bounce board (anything that reflects light) and have it on the opposite side of the main light (camera left in this case). It will fill in light to the shadowed side of your face and increase detail, but yet still give depth because there will still be shadows. You will obviously want to nail focus on your eyes also.

The bored expression can work for you.

BAHAHAHA glad to see im not the only one gettin a new a-hole ripped!

webcam photography ... maybe hes taking a new direction?

innovative my friend!
