Self Portrait

Got some new flash stands and umbrellas for christmas, along with a white painters tarp, so i decided to make a little studio in my apartment for ****s and giggles. Ive always been terrible at posing myself.

two vivitars fired into one umbrella at 1/4 each
sunpack 120j on the floor behind me at 1/8 to blow out the BG.
Lightroom 4 for editing
cropped, sharpened slightly, and a curves adjustment.

Portraits usually show the face. Technically sound photo, but I think calling it a portrait is misleading.

I was also expecting a face. One nitpick is that the collar of your shirt being white and the way the head is tilted, it sort of just bleeds into your backdrop and something is strange there?

its a portrait of himself "shooting" his camera. we see lots of those around here. he would have looked pretty strange shooting a waist level viewfinder camera with his head up. in this case, the composition is just fine. any other head position would have been out of place. I think a shirt without white would have looked better against the while background though.

Ill be honest i used my flash meter to get the aperture and it happend to be at 1/30 sec, and it being late i didn't think to change it, I knew the flash would freeze and motion though.

I agree, I once had to shoot portraits of a band and the requested white t shirts against a white background, it was a pain but it worked out well for them, I got this shirt for christmas and happened to have it on when i shot these.
