Selling Things for Full-Frame.. Ideas?

Forget about the 50mm 1.8G. Get a AF-D F1.4 50mm used instead.
Wide angle wise, there's also AF-S 17~35mm F2.8 used, or even more affordable, a used AF-D F2.8 20mm. But seriously, 14-24 is what you need.

As I've said earlier, no to the 14-24. Why the D?

Why the G?

Yes the G is probably better in many ways, but after searching all the comparison articles I can find on google, the difference isn't worth the price difference. Plus, a good used lens is a good lens, no need to get a brand new one if you can find a good used copy.

I have both the AF-D F1.4 50mm and F2.8 20mm. The F1.4 50mm cost me $280, and the 20mm at around the same price range too.
The F1.4 50mm is awesome, no complain. The 20mm is good enough on my D700, but I'd think you need at least the AF-S 17~35 F2.8 to have decent image quality on the D800. I recommend the 20mm because it's extremely light and compact for the convenience, and low price for the affordability.

Well I really wanted a truck for the longest time but after some serious honestly I realized I would only utilize the truck to haul things around a few times a year. The rest would be spent driving on the high way and using extra gas.

Oh, go buy the truck, live a little I think every house hold should have a truck. I don't need to borrow a friend's truck or beg for help anytime we buy something bigger than can fit in the wife's car.

You don't have to buy a 1ton truck that sucks fuel faster than you can pump it. Ford has started producing turbocharged 6cyl 1/2 tons that get decent fuel economy and still have plenty of towing power.

My truck is one of my best photography tools :mrgreen:

I'd skip the 20mm, just not wide enough. I nearly bought that lens after my 24mm 2.8 afd but got the 18-35 instead

i love using distortion on corner shots of swoopy cars elongating hoods etc

I've been thinking about renting one just for this reason. That 1.4 has to blow my 28mm 2.8 (28-70mm) out of the water and It accepts 77mm filters which is a huge bonus.

Plus at that focal length you will be swimming in dof. If i ever get a full frame, that lens is going into my bag.

Welp, just placed the order for the 16-35 and the 50... so expect a thread with the D7000 gripped, Tokina, and sigma, for sale, to be up soon. Just waiting on the D800 to arrive.

Yes, on the FF, and the lens set. Sounds good. I've recently tried mixing FF and DX...doesn't work that well for me. The 80-200 on 1.5x is too long for portraiture...just forces me to be too danged far away.
