I just bought a Canon 24-70 2.8L lens from someone on Craigslist and I think it is a bad copy....anyone have experience sending a lens to Canon for calibration?

It seems to have AF issues, images seem to soft, and a lot of my shots are blurry!!! When I tried it out when I met the person it seemed to shoot fine outdoors but now I am getting frustrated.

I am wondering what kind of money am I looking at to send it in and get repaired and what kind of turn-around time am I looking at?

Thanks.

PS. Never buying of CL again!!!

What ever you do get tracking
I sent in a lens to nikon but it got lost in the USPS system. =(

Post an example?

the 24-70 f/2.8 is notorious for being soft. If you think getting a soft copy is just luck you're wrong, getting a sharp copy is luck according to everything I've read. I even used one and wasn't too impressed with it.

Ya, I've heard about issues with this lens as well.

As for sending it in, there are Canon Service Centres in several states. I'm sure you can find the closest one on the Canon USA web site. Give them a call and they will be able to instruct you from there.
