Don't mind at all. I aligned based on the bricks around the top of the frame, I think you aligned for the cross. Neither is perfectly straight I think. I did a couple of alignments and nothing felt "dead on" but I guess that's how it goes with old churches that have settled on their foundations over the span of a century plus.

FWIW; I looked at the supposedly vertical elements; i.e.: the door jambs, and the Cross as well, not assuming anything about how the Cross was hung, but just to make sure it didn't look too crooked.

As for those old steps, sometimes they can be level, and other times they settle out of level over time, but the main reason I chose the door jambs is for the longer line(s). Yes, old structures might not have anything level or plumb, so sometimes we just have to see what looks right.

I don't mean to be so darn picky, but that is one of the things that happens to bug me if it's not straight.

Haha, see it bugs me now in the edit that the top line of bricks at the very top of the image aren't level. And the right side as well.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at that no angle I tried it at perfectly made it feel right. Ultimately I just became zen with the fact that no matter what it would look slightly crooked somewhere.

The first picture's alignment feels better to me. With the top row of bricks aligned. I like the way the cross pops out, and there's a little irony w the fallout shelter sign
