So its been awhile since I have posted here... Life has been hitting me from behind lately...

This is my friend, but she's more like a sister. We met when she was Two, I was Five, she is my best friends younger sister.

For the past several months, she has been battling a bone cancer that has developed rapidly within the bone marrow of her left leg, she had surgery about a month ago, replacing the entire knee and a large portion of her femur to completely eradicate the cancer... Today I got a call from her asking me to snap a couple pictures of her and the new haircut. I was completely ill prepared, in overalls, covered in grease... under my truck. (I have been roaming the 4x4 forums lately, I was replacing my CVs and installing manual hubs) But I obliged and drove to the local park down the road with her.

The only lens I have right now is ranged in 100mm-300mm f/4 and the sun was practically down. I wouldn't say this is my best work, but I tried with what I had... I just want them to live to the fullest potential before I hand them over

Just posting for some C&C, not sure whats up with the quality, it seems heavily degraded on my monitor.

My wife recently was diagnosed with a brain tumor and undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. We are going to do a 'shoot' soon. These are nice. Prayers for all.

They look pretty good. The only little things that I would have to pick on is that the head is so close to the top of every frame, and since you already cropped out part of her legs in the first one just go ahead and take it further filling the frame from her waist up.

It is inspirational to see such a smile on her face with everything she is going through. My wife is also a cancer survivor having given up half of a lung and going through chemo. Due to her strong will and the great doctors in the Tacoma area she is still here 8 years later.

These are very small images, so there's not much it can be done.
here is my take

Sending you all some positive energy!

I will figure out what's going on with my export quality and post some re-edits

Thanks for the replies and very kind words, it means a lot

To be honest with you - I do not like the gloomy atmosphere/mood of the images. It has nothing to do with the subject. She is smiling and looks strong and cheerful. And probably that is how she would want the images to look like. Yet it is dark and gloomy. That shady, dark background...Are sure she wants to see it? She does look like she is "kicking cancer's ass" at the moment, but the image does not support it. I think it is your fault mate. The light was probably not the best, but even then you could try to do a bit better.Think about the light, the setting, how could you make an image that complements her positive state of mind, and offer her another session. She will appreciate it. No offence, but that is what I think about it.

Thank you for this reply, I was feeling it too. I wish it wasn't so dark out... I feel like it really negatively affected the backdrops

She is beautiful, and I love her smile!

Larger files uploaded, edits posted. I'm tired, I was just promoted to a supervisor position and... I haven't slept in days.
So... if they suck let me know because I don't lol

Thank you TPF, feels good to be back here.

Juga I'm sorry to hear that. Cancer has really taken away a lot of good years in our lives. My wife is a cancer survivor, she is on her 12th year of remission. There is hope! we began to volunteer at the American Cancer Society in support of child cancer patients and summer camps for patients, survivors and siblings. It has been life changing, eye opening and heart warming.

I wish you the best Juga.

Those same Tacoma Doctors saved my wife as well. She is in her 12th year.

I apologize for late responses, I have been SO busy, it has taken a serious tole on me.
