Shining Through

Here is a pic that I took earlier today. The sun was shining through storm clouds for a few minutes.

try boosting the contrast so that the road in the middle sticks out more..this would definately be amazing if the whites and blacks contrasted each other more

This is the kind of image HDR is perfect for.

The scene had more dynamic range than your camera sensor could handle. If you expose for where the sun is shining through everything else is seriously under exposed. Conversely, If you expose for the foreground the bright areas get blown. An ND or GND wouldn't have helped either.

You got the best exposure possible given the circumstances.
