SHOCKED at Tamrons VERY overpriced lens.

So I was just checking some prices on a Norwegian photo side and was going to compare 70-200 prices. The Nikon VRII is priced about $2850 which is fair, but then I saw the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 Di SP VC USD which is priced at a ridiculous $2690.. How can the price difference between these two only be around $150, it makes my brain go "wtf was tamron thinking". I mean, the tamron is a good lens but the nikon one is surely much much better. And everyone with a bit of brain would pay an extra $150 for the Nikon.

For comparison, in USA (B&H photo), the Nikon cost $2390 and the Tamron costs $1499. Thats almost $900 dollars difference. It would actually be $600 cheaper for my to buy the tamron in the states and pay for both VAT, customs and shipping.

And this silly norwegian price is not only in that one shop, it seems like it's the same all over.

Wow...an utterly RIDICULOUS price point from the Tamron distributors!!! Maybe they are trying to recoup some money to help pay for their purchase of the Pentax brand!!!

I think Tamron lenses are terribly over-rated anyway and wouldn't buy another one on a bet. If you are a Nikon user and want an alternative to Nikkor lenses, you may want to look at Tokina.

I think Tokina lenses are highly over-rated and suggest you may want to stick with Nikon lenses.

I am betting it has something to do with where they are initially shipped from and the taxes that get paid on them at the wholesale level.
