I've only managed to do that once, I think, and it was a cap-and-ball muzzleloader at a civil war recreation.

USPSA is a blast. As is IDPA. I shot both for years and absolutely loved it until club politics soured it for me.

If you can find an IDPA or USPSA/IPSC club in your area give it a try at some point. You don't have to be good or experienced, just willing to listen and learn. The experience will make you good over time. They are both "Action Pistol" venues in that they are not static target shooting. You have to move, shoot quick, and shoot accurately and it is an absolute blast. Honestly the most fun I've ever had shooting.
